Adje! Adje!
ACCD-1001
Adje! Adje! is the latest recording by the ensemble band Elikeh, who take their name from an African word meaning "rooted-ness". Togolese-born singer, guitarist, composer and Elikeh's founder, Massama Dogo sings in a hybrid dialect used only in Togo's capital. Massama's singing is accompanied by guitars, horns and percussion in a musical style that blends traditional African and contemporary elements into a polyrhythmic whole. Driving the album is a strong theme of social justice and the importance of people banding together against corruption and excessive greed, whether perpetuated by the state itself or private corporations. Adje! Adje! is a powerful, invigorating call to participate in making the world a better place,
. The tracks are "Adje! Adje!", "Oleblemi", "Djalele", "Novi Nye", "Get Ready","Let's March", "Lonlon", "Aiko", "Jondji", and "Madjo".
