Jon is a veteran writer/performer/composer/producer/arranger, educator and Grammy & Wammie winning artist. His studio CD collection Love Returns (Azalea City Recordings) won 7 Washington Area Music Association awards including Album of the Year, Song of the Year (Paint That Dollar), Musician of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. The follow-up live 2-CD concert recording, LIVE RETURNS–Live at The Barns At Wolf Trap (Azalea City Recordings) garnered nominations for  Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Pop Rock Recording, Pop Rock Vocalist, Pop Rock Duo/Group, Pop Rock Instrumentalist & Musician of the Year.

Jon began his musical career right out of high school with Starland Vocal Band, whose National #1 recording Afternoon Delight won them a Best New Artist Grammy. Jon’s arrangement also won the Grammy for Best Arrangement for Voices.  The group was nominated for 5 Grammies that year. The recording is now iconic with numerous commercial appropriations.

Jon’s first Wammie was for for his tune Get Closer, made into a pop hit by Linda RonstadtTom JonesKenny Rogers are among others who’ve recorded his tunes. He has been the long-time keyboardist and vocalist with Wammie & Grammy winning artist Mary Chapin Carpenter, and many others including Rodney Crowell Dixie Chicks, Peter Wolf & Eric Lindell. His latest single release (You Gotta) Stand Up!, is the theme of the popular podcast Stand Up! with Pete Dominick. Jon composes soundtracks and his playing and singing appear on hundreds of artists’ recordings over decades.
